Wool and the Gang to hold their first ever knit party in Manchester.

Wool and the Gang to hold their first ever knit party in Manchester.

On Monday 26th October, international fashion brand Wool and the Gang will be visiting Northern Quarter hangout, Kosmonaut, to hold their first ever knit party in Manchester.

Gone are the days of a following pattern and being left to your own devices, the Wool and the Gang knit parties allow guests to create their own bespoke knitwear in a range of yarns and colours with the guidance from a Wool and the Gang member. At the party on 26th guests will have the opportunity to create their very own snood (or the Snood Operator as it's wittily titled) in their chosen shade of Crazy Sexy Wool.

This party will be the first of many as they're tipped to form a key party of Kosmonaut's creative programme, which includes art, fashion and music - all a pivotal part of the Tariff Street bar's offering. The current exhibition displays works from internationally renowned illustrator Lisa Stannard in her solo exhibition Happy Paradise.

Wool and the Gang started back in 2008 when Central Saint Martins fashion students Jade Harwood and Arielle Popper decided they wanted to get the nation into knitting and producing fashion within their own homes.

Fast forward a few years and the pair now have a business with an international fan base and have been commissioned by big name designers including Giles, Whistles and Christopher Raeburn to be part of collections at London Fashion Week.

Wool and the Gang knit and crochet parties are an opportunity to come together, have fun and pick up new skills.  They are taking the US and the UK by storm with over 1,000 people joining the party in the last year.

The party at Kosmonaut will be hosted by a Wool and the Gang expert and guests will be given step by step guidance to create their own snood in preparation for the colder months in chilly Manchester.

We reached out to our fans on Facebook to ask where they'd like the next WATG Party to be, and they voted for Manchester!

Don't worry if you're new to the knitting needles, the parties are suitable for both beginners and experienced makers, as each piece can be made in varying difficulty levels.

Lena Lindstrom from Wool and the Gang said: "We've been hosting parties in London for some time but wanted to expand our maker revolution across the UK. We reached out to our fans on Facebook to ask where they'd like the next WATG Party to be, and they voted for Manchester! We're very excited to be working with Kosmonaut, we think its fun and creative vibe will be a real natural fit. Plus the Northern Quarter reminds us of SoHo in NY where we used to have our WATG shop".

In these techheavy times, we're all in need of a digital detox. Put that phone down, step away from the screen and take some time out to come together with your friends and learn a new skill.
