A rare opportunity to swim with Olympic superstars in Manchester

A host of Olympians and Paralympians are taking on a new swim challenge this September at Manchester Aquatics Centre and they want you to take the plunge along side them!

Steve Parry, Olympic Bronze Medallist

Former Stockport swimmers Steve Parry and Keri-anne Payne will be squaring up in the pool as they join members of the public to swim 1000m each in a team relay of four legs.

Whilst Paralympic star Claire Cashmore, who has just landed a World Championship relay gold medal in Montreal, will also be taking to the water to swim with local school pupil Kiera Fox, who like Claire was born without a forearm, and who has been mentored by the world-class swimmer for the past 6 months after the youngster was inspired by Claire to learn to swim.

Manchester’s female Water Polo team will also be taking on the challenge as a team.

SwimBritain is a four-person team relay event, part of a new programme by British Gas that aims to encourage 500,000 people to swim more regularly by 2015.
