Continuum Leading Attractions, who are the operator of the tour, applied for the license after receiving numerous requests from people hoping to celebrate their big day at the former Coronation Street set. The license covers non-religious and civil ceremonies.
Couples who get married at this unique venue can say their “I Do’s” inside the Rovers Return or inside the Underworld factory. Following the vows, the happy couple can then step onto the hallowed cobbles to take their wedding photos in front of iconic sites such as the Rovers Return, Roy’s Rolls and Nick’s Bistro before celebrating with a reception on site.
Andy Begg, General Manager of Coronation Street The Tour said:
“We have received several requests from people asking if they can get married at Coronation Street and are now really pleased that we can answer these with a yes. What an amazing place to hold your wedding and just think of the photo’s! A real must for any die hard Corrie fan wanting to tie the knot in style.”
The weddings will take place in the evenings outside of school holidays to accommodate scheduled tours. The former Coronation Street set was opened up to the public in April following the soap’s move to MediaCityUK. The tour gives an insight into the filming of Coronation Street and takes visitors behind the scenes to see selected interior sets before stepping out onto the cobbles.
The tour has proven very popular with over 100,000 people visiting within the first two months. Extra tickets have also been released to meet the demand and can be booked at www.ticketmaster.co.uk/coronationstreet.
Coronation Street The Tour will be open until October 4th and so getting married there truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity. For further information please email corrieprivatehire@continuum-group.com.
