Comic Relief continues to trend on Twitter after Friday night’s annual fundraising event. The televised evening of entertainment saw celebrities and members of the public raising money in a variety of ways, and social networkers continue to discuss the record breaking 75-million which has been raised so far, the sketch which saw music mogul Simon Cowell marry himself, and of course the efforts of singer Jessie J, who shaved off her hair for the charity in order to raise £500,000. The Price Tag singer described the feeling of getting rid of her locks on TV as ‘liberating’.
Formula-one racing driver Kimi Raikkonen is also a hot topic today after he beat Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso in a tough battle during the Australian Grand Prix. The Finnish driver beat Spanish Alonso after taking only two pit stop breaks compared to Alonso’s three. Fans of Kimi, who is signed to Lotus, tweeted their delight after he had started in seventh place on the grid but managed to pull himself back up to fourth place early on with a good start. Sebastian Vettel came in third ahead of Ferrari’s Felipe Massa and Lewis Hamilton for Mercedes. Jenson Button took ninth place in his McLaren.
Meanwhile St Patrick’s Day is trending as people all over the world celebrate the Irish holiday. Google’s banner of Irish dancers is going down well with internet users today, while Kate Middleton fans sympathise after the Duchess found herself getting the heel of her shoe stuck in a grid during a St. Patrick’s Day parade with Prince William. Kate kept her cool and laughed off the incident whilst leaning on her husband for support while she tried to dislodge the shoe. We’ve all been there Kate!
