Bop Local - the biggest club night in South Manchester - is 3!

Bop Local ~ the biggest club night in South Manchester ~ celebrates its third birthday on Saturday 29th June at Chorlton Irish Club, Manchester with a big party!

What began as a simple idea in 2010 as a club night aimed at over 30s, discerning clubbers, has gone from strength to strength. At each Bop Local there's a special guest DJ to complement Phil Beckett's playlist and to mix things up a little. Previous guests have included Simon Rimmer (TV presenter & chef), Mike Joyce (BBC 6 Music/The Smiths), Jeff Hordley (Emmerdale's Cain Dingle), Clint Boon (Inspiral Carpets/XFM), Liz Kershaw (BBC 6 Music/Radio 2), Peter Hook (Joy Division/New Order)...

For this special 3rd birthday party, Bop Local will be taking over both floors of the Irish Club. Phil's special guest DJ will be Jennie McAlpine, better known throughout the land as Fiz from Coronation Street. Jennie's warm up DJ for early doors will be Chorlton celebrity, Kay Luxon. Upstairs in the venue, the main DJ is Bop Local resident, Mark Smith, who will be assisted by DJs Leo B Stanley, John McCready, John Locke and Goff.

In addition to the DJs, award-winning cartoonist Tony Husband will be returning with his very popular Cartoon Confessional Box in the Irish Club Lounge Bar, where Bop Local clubbers can confess their sins to Tony in exchange for one of his brilliant cartoons. Donations for the cartoons will go to Moodswings charity.

Doors open 8.30pm ~ drinking and dancing till 2am

Tickets are on sale for £6 online at and will be available from Chris at Chorlton Irish Club and On the Corner.
