dLo Presents NB AUDIO vs. HOCUS POCUS RECORDS Label launch / Charity event

Taking place at Manchester’s celebrated music venue Sound Control on Bank Holiday Sunday May 5th 2013, this unique event is presented by Manchester-based dLo Productions alongside the new record labels to raise money for mental health charity, the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).

NB Audio (NBA) is a new Manchester-based, UK alternative electronica dance label, representing UK and international independent artists from across the Drum & Bass, Dub Step and Techno genres. The label provides an in depth range of services to help niche, alternative artists gain recognition.

Hocus Pocus Records are a new label created by Drum & Bass/Jungle producers Dawn Raid. Led by ADT and Kingsize, the duo has secured releases on acclaimed and established labels since they formed in 2006, producing remixes with renowned artists. This has created a strong base for the collective to provide their growing fan base with collaborations and remixes straight from the artists who have helped to produce them.

Artists from both labels are set to perform, with Dawn Raid & BIC headlining for Hocus Pocus, as well as Jinx bsb K-Jah from Dread Recordings. NBA headliners Rolaz with Kiara and Rob Dot, and Nian Dub are joined by Snap Shot, the newly-formed musical collaboration between established music artists Mark XTC and Microcosm. This UK DJ / Producer duo will perform tracks from their debut EP ‘Dark Shadow’, released on NB Audio on April 29th 2013. With other artists on the night; Eastland, Fortune, Semiotix, DJ Marshall with Pari, Untouchable Djai, and McDubbin.

Guest DJ’s who are also performing on the event include; drum & bass veteran; DJ Sappo, and renowned Manchester-based production outfit North Base.

This innovative Drum and Bass ‘Sound Clash’ event follows the huge success of the dLo launch event held last July at Manchester’s legendary Dry Live bar, raising over £1,000 for CALM.

All profits from NBA’s Vs Hocus Pocus official launch event will go to CALM, a charity formed in 2006 with the backing of Manchester music icon Tony Wilson to reduce the high suicide rate amongst men under 35 in the UK. Suicide is currently this demographic’s biggest killer, which is why CALM offers help and support via a helpline, website, free magazine and a variety of social media channels.

Manchester-based video production house, dLo, and Elek Tronique, a dLo-operated online electronic dance music TV show will film the event. Sound is enhanced by official supporter OHM professional sound systems and live visuals provided by Chair TV.

Sample provider Loopmasters will also be giving away 500MB of music sample packs and a free iPhone and iPad app to all guests.

Eco award-winning street wear company THTC will also be giving away free t-shirts on a first-come-first-serve basis, alongside Mancunian clothing labels RomeyD and Bait MCR Clothing.

Other major sponsors include Kopparberg, alongside major music distribution company EPM Music.

A representative from NB Audio says, “We are so excited to celebrate the launch of NB Audio with an event which celebrates the best Manchester Drum and Bass talent, all for a great cause.

NB Audio has been launched to give alternative electronic artists an easier path to find themselves musically and to get released and distributed. As a label we provide full support for new and established artists helping to negotiate collaborations, video production and brand management, as well as giving them the opportunity to perform and grow within our NBA events and others.

A representative from Hocus Pocus Records says, “Combined with a real passion for the music, and the scene since it’s inception in the early 90s, Dawn Raid always deliver productions and live performances that represent the spectrum of Jungle/DnB from its beginnings to the present day.

Hocus Pocus Records gives Dawn Raid and future collaborators and artists the chance to reach fans directly, release the music we want to produce and explore other genres of music.

This event is a great way to showcase the talent of artists, DJs and collaborators joining NB Audio and Hocus Pocus.”
