Manchester Arndale Rocks with Band on the Wall for new student competition

Manchester Arndale has partnered with Band on the Wall to launch an exciting live music competition for the city’s students.

The shopping centre and live music venue are looking for the next hottest sound in Manchester – inviting students to enter their band’s music for the chance to win a recording session and two live performances.

The winner will be announced at Manchester Arndale’s annual “Student Spring Break” event on Tuesday 21 April 2015. The band will perform their own exclusive gig at the prestigious Band on the Wall venue, which was recently awarded NME's 'Best Small Venue North West  has played host to live performances from the likes of Elbow, The Fall and The Smiths over the years and more recently artists such as Will Young and Paloma Faith. The winners will also win four days studio time at Blueprint Studio to produce one song for release.

We’re excited to help discover Manchester’s best emerging talent, we have a strong history of up and coming artists playing at the venue and feel this competition could be a great launch platform for an unsigned band.

David Allinson, Centre Director at Manchester Arndale, said: “Greater Manchester has a vast student population, many of which visit Manchester Arndale on a regular centre. Alongside our very successful two annual student nights, Student Spring Break and the Big Student Night In, we wanted to offer students a seriously exciting prize next year. Partnering with such a famous Mancunian live music venue is fantastic and we cannot wait to start listening to the entries.”
