Meet the Brewer with Squawk Brewing Company at Kosmonaut

On Saturday 7th March, 3-6pm Kosmonaut is hosting a ‘Meet the Brewer’ event with the Manchester based Squawk Brewing Company.

Self-proclaimed ‘new kids on the experimental craft beer block’ Squawk will be showcasing a strong selection of porters, stouts, IPA’s and hop back pales for ‘intrepid hunters on the lookout for bold flavours and brave brews’.

The pale ale pioneers will discuss the birth of their brewery, their success and how they produce the perfect pint. From the distillery to the distribution, the evening will give you an in depth insight into the day-to-day life of running a microbrewery.

Included in the £10 ticket is a Kosmonaut pizza to soak up the ale and a half or a bottle of all six Squawk beers on offer, including the Hop Rocket Special, which allows beer lovers the chance to create their very own ale, selecting flavours from a selection of hops, to produce a unique beer on the spot.

Guests can expect to taste the following ales…

PALE 5.5%

Squawks pale offering has a stellar grapefruit body with Amarillo, Centennial and Cluster hops that follows with pithy, bitter after tones. This ale has a fresh palate but a long bitter finish.

In collaboration with Mr Scruff, Squawk has created this very drinkable ale with plenty of malt body to balance out the hops. Lemon, orange and grapefruit are combined with hints of spice and pine experienced on the aftertaste.

IPA 6.3%

This IPA boasts a biscuit malt base holding up sticky, citrus hops with a lasting head. It consists primarily of lemon and grapefruit pith, with some gooseberry tartness for an extra kick.

Using a Hop Rocket, guests will be invited to create their own bespoke beer, with a base of either Floating Pints or Squawks Pale. The flavour profile is completely determined by the guest.

Squawk’s porter offering is light in style with plumb, fig and fruity notes throughout. Clean and crisp with a hint of chocolate, the ale includes aromas of liquorice and raisin.

In collaboration with Huddersfield artisan coffee roasters, Squawk and Beanbrothers have produced a rich, silky smooth dense beer. The main body of the beer is expresso but with earthy notes and chocolate brownie hints the taste is dry and roasty with faint fruitiness.

Tickets are priced at just £10 and can be bought from behind the bar at Kosmonaut. The ticket will include all six drinks tokens and a pizza from Kosmonaut’s menu. Meet the Brewer will be held from 3pm until 6pm in the basement.
