Post-Easter fit-spiration

Many have probably promised themselves they will be back on the diet ‘after the Easter weekend’, with summer on the way and the lighter evenings reminding of us that with better weather, comes less clothes, and we can no longer hide our flesh under jumpers and scarves. But how are you intending to get the pounds off?

Will you follow a ready-made plan, Weight Watchers, the Atkins, the Zone? Perhaps you’re hoping the latest trend, intermittent fasting, will be the one which finally does it for you? Maybe you’re going for good old-fashioned salad and exercise, and sticking a ‘fat picture’ on the fridge, to keep you away from any chocolate, wine, or other fattening fancies which may be in the house?

To give you a bit of inspiration, we’ve taken a look at what some of the most desired celebrity bodies say they do to say in shape. Do with this information what you will…

The 25-year-old Gossip Girl actress says she loves food and doesn’t do any exercise! (that’s what they all say!) “I’m terrible,” she says, “I don’t do any exercise, I’m going to have to learn the hard way.”

Despite always looking toned in her glamorous television scenes and super-trim on the red carpet, California-girl Blake says she does do a lot of eating. “I love food too much, and my family is from the South, so the food I like is not necessarily the best for you.

There are days when I will be like, 'Oh my goodness, I am not happy with the way I look because I cannot fit into any of my clothes'. So I eat quinoa that week, and then I feel good.”

Exercise:       Nothing!

Best tip:         When you can’t fit into your clothes any more, don’t just think, ‘ah well!’ and buy bigger! Eat healthier for the following week. Blake likes high-energy grain Quinoa for her ‘skinny days’.

Vice:               “The more sugary and cheesy and fried the better,” she says. Sounds good to us!

Fancy some Kelly Brook curves? Apparently 33-year-old glamour model Kelly thanks fun workouts for her great shape.

“I love cranking the music up and hula-hooping for about ten minutes,” she says. “I’m not a gym bunny, I hardly ever go. I have a farm in Kent and tend to keep fit by doing outdoorsy things, like gardening, riding my bike, walking my dog and swimming.”

The British model-turned-actress says she once tried a macrobiotic diet – which involves avoiding processed foods and most animal products – but found it didn’t work for her. “Now, I don't deprive myself of anything. I'm not a skinny girl but, luckily, it goes to all the right places.” It’s alright for some!

Exercise:    Spending time in the great outdoors, gardening and walking, and housework, which she says she finds ‘strangely relaxing.’  She also likes pilates.

Best tip:     Keeping fit in ways which don’t feel like exercise, and getting lots of sleep at night!

Vice:          Cheeseburgers!

Victoria’s Secret Model Miranda is known for her clean-living and super-skinny frame, just like her fellow VS models. The 29-year-old Australian who is lucky enough to call herself Mrs. Orlando Bloom, also has a child with the actor, but manages to eat right whilst running around after a toddler. “I love spinach, avocado, lots of greens and broccoli,” she says. Don’t we all!

Miranda also puts her fab figure down to a regular yoga routine, and coconut oil, which she apparently adds to her salads or green tea and claims gives her shiny hair and clear skin as well as a trim figure.

Miranda has also been known to follow the blood-type diet, called ‘Eat Right 4 Your Type’, by Peter D’Adamo, which claims people with type-O blood should eat a protein rich diet, whereas type-B adults should stay away from wheat and chicken, AB blood types are to eat small meals frequently and beware of certain food combinations. Just in case you’re wondering, Miranda is a type A!

Exercise:      "I practise yoga daily,” she says. “I do half an hour in the morning plus half an hour of meditation. Dedication is key for me because with my constant travel schedule I find it very grounding and energising."

Best tip:        As well as adding coconut oil to everything, she has some other exotic favourites. "Some of my favourite snacks are organic almonds and blueberries, half an avocado with sea salt, and I also love eating Fuji apple pieces with almond butter and agave - it feels like a treat but it's really good for you," she says. She apparently also has Noni Juice to thank for her great completion. Fancy!

Vice:               We didn’t think Victoria’s Secret models had such a thing, but apparently Miranda likes fried chicken, although she does make it herself so she knows exactly what’s going into it. We’re impressed!

She’s known for showing off her trademark slender legs in shorts, but 33-year-old TV Presenter Caroline Flack says that’s all down to her genes.

“I’m not a fitness buff. I’ve got exactly the same legs as my mum. I like having curves. I will never diet. I love burgers and I love chips. I like good food and I’ll eat until I’m full.”

The Xtra-Factor host apparently doesn’t do any exercise either! "I have a panic week in the gym two weeks before The X Factor starts, but that’s about it,” she says. Lucky her!

Exercise:      Working out in the gym, but only when there’s a big event coming up!

Best tip:       Caroline apparently uses MAC body foundation to make her legs look flawless! Tricks of the trade!

Vice:            An all-American diet, burgers and chips, no less!

The 25-year-old pop star is no stranger to showing off her body, and subsequently has to make sure she keeps it in shape. The star is said to be a big fan of working out, but needs someone to give her a kick up the bum in order for her to get going! “Cardio is the key. I have a personal trainer who travels with me if we have a big event coming up,” she says. “I work out every day but I need a trainer to motivate me.”

Rihanna is also apparently a big fan of trainer and dietician Harley Pasternak, who has tons of other celebrity fans and followers, including Kim Kardashian, Megan Fox and Katy Perry. The diet Harley has worked out for Rihanna allegedly involves the singer eating 5 small meals throughout the day – including lots of vegetables, which she apparently hates!

Despite trying to keep the calories down, Rihanna admits that if she’s exercising, she needs her carbs to keep up her energy: “Carbs are the enemy but if I go three days without them, I start getting weak. If my trainer had her way, I’d eat small meals every three hours, but I sometimes only eat once or twice a day.”

Exercise: Hard-core cardio in the gym, daily! (ouch!)

Best tip: Keep your energy up, and stay motivated. If you can’t afford a personal trainer to egg you on, try going to classes with a friend!

Vice: She’s been known to enjoy her fast food, and reportedly once placed a room service order including 14 packets of Oreo cookies, four bags of cheese crisps, nine cartons of Haagen-Dazs ice cream and six large pizzas. Why so hungy Ri?
