Versi and the Proles @ MOHO

After the great success of their Manchester Academy gig back in June, Versi and the Proles are returning to "teach us a lesson" once again.

This time the bunch of teachers-by-day-rock-stars-by-night are playing at the prestigious venue, Moho Live, owned by Danny McNamara, lead singer of the 90s band Embrace. It kicks off at 7pm - Friday 3rd September at “The Summer of Love Ball” in Room Two of the venue. They will be supporting The Gadgets, and tickets are £5 in advance or on the door.

It was Versi and the Proles who opened the night to the expectant Academy crowd. Singer Harriet Donnelly, oozing confidence and with plenty of stage presence, gave a performance that was reminiscent of the mid-90s female vocalists such as Sonya Madan of Echobelly and Shirley Manson.

Bassist, Jeremy Malcolm, is no stranger to the Rock Scene, having played with "Metal Monkey Machine" who supported The Ramones back in '94 and New York Band The Lunachicks at the Academy.

The highlight of the set has to be the excellently titled “Small Town Syndrome” which documents her experiences of living in, erm, a small town. Very well delivered and straight to the point. Some of us can identify with those frustrations!

Recently the band have played in Newcastle, and are releasing their debut single, self-titled “Versi and the Proles” on Monday 30th August. The tracks were recorded and produced by ATIC Records’ Gripper, and will be available to download from iTunes and Spotify. Both tracks, “Discovery” and “Delusion” will be available to purchase on CD from the band directly.

lineHarriet explains there are a limited numbr of Free entry tickets which can be obtained from the band directly or by contacting their manager, Joe Garnett on 07907 842198. Get one NOW!line
