Chinese Circus stars light up the Lowry for Sport Relief

Today the Chinese State Circus acrobats bent over backwards to put on an amazing spectacle in support of Sport Relief to encourage the people of Manchester to enter the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile on the 25th March.

Let's go the extra mile for Sport Relief

These amazing circus stars took time out from their busy tour of their show ‘Yin Yang’ to go the extra mile for Sport Relief and give Manchester a once-in-lifetime performance featuring acts such as the eye catching Lion Dance, lightening speed hat-juggling and the legendary ‘Bicycle Act’ in which 10 talented artistes manoeuvre on a single bicycle.

The tiny cyclists climbed onto one another’s shoulders as their bicycle spun around the stage at The Lowry Theatre in Salford quays, kitted out in glittering costume and fantastic Sport Relief T-Shirts. Hat jugglers performed their amazing signature act and there were four fearsome Chinese lions proudly showing off their Sport Relief Socks and posing cheekily for the cameras.

Phillip Gandey, Director of the circus said: “The Chinese State Circus is proud to be part of such a fantastic campaign and we all hope that we can encourage Manchester to enter the Sport Relief Mile. You can do the Mile however you want –back-flip, juggle, pirouette or spin plates – there are loads of fun ways to take part and set yourself an even bigger challenge.”

This year, over one million people are expected to pull up their Sport Relief socks and take part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile to raise vital funds for vulnerable people across the UK and the world’s poorest countries.
