Scissor Sister gets Flirty

Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters was a particularly enthusiastic (if not incredibly regular) guest at Castlefield's Lava Bar recently..

Lava owner Mal said: Why else would he come in 5 times for water?

Apparently, the Scissor Sister’s love of the bar was fuelled by his love-at-first-sight crush on an attractive member of staff. Mal declined to identify which staff member but did say: “He’s a very good looking lad!”

Jake Shears, real name Jason Sellards, 31, is a co-lead vocalist of electro-pop band Scissor Sisters and is no stranger to provocation.

“We had him with us for almost four hours. He was
here with 2 members of security and his manager.”

... and like any fabulous rockstar worthy of their brogues, he was cutting time quite thin thanks to his outrageous flirting. “They had to drag him out of here  - they were going to miss their flight!” Mal said.

Lava in Castlefield is a cosy bar situated right next to popular Manchester radio station Key 103. Another glamorous visitor to grace the leather sofas was Sophie Ellis Bextor, who popped in for a cuppa before heading back to the radio station.

The Scissor Sisters will be back in the UK performing at the Manchester Evening News Arena on 11th December for one of only 2 UK dates to round off the year.
