Visiting four cities over four consecutive nights

BBC Radio 1Xtra Live is back, bigger and better than ever before, with four massive free nights of urban music in store for Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and London from Monday 28th November 2011 to Thursday 1st December 2011.

RnB superstar Kelly Rowland performed at the first ever 1Xtra Live event in Coventry in 2008 and she’s back to headline the final date of the tour at London’s Brixton Academy on Thursday 1st December.

The event was announced by Kelly live on air with Chris Moyles and 1Xtra’s Twin B in a special simulcast broadcast on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra on Friday 4th November.

Kelly Rowland said: “I loved performing at the first ever 1Xtra Live four years ago and I’m really happy to be headlining the final date of this incredible event. There’s so much amazing talent on the line-up and I’m proud to be part of it”.

Tearing up the Brixton Academy date with Kelly on Thursday 1st December are Big Sean, Jessie J and the UK Female Allstar MC’s, a one-off collaboration with Mz Bratt, Lady Leshurr, RoxXxan, Lioness, Baby Blue and A.Dot.

The Brixton Academy concert is the culmination of four days of amazing music and 1Xtra live broadcasts which kick off at the Manchester Apollo on Monday 28th November with chart-toppers Wretch 32, Dappy, Labrinth and Tinchy Stryder.

The action then moves to Birmingham Academy on Tuesday 29th November where dubstep giants, Nero, headline and are joined by Skream (with Sam Frank), J. Cole and Maverick Sabre.

On Wednesday 30th November Bristol Academy plays host to headlining drum ‘n’ bass stalwarts Chase and Status. Also on the bill are Benga & Youngman, Ms Dynamite and Delilah.

Joining the amazing line-up each night will be a local rising talent - as part of 1Xtra's look-out for new acts from the UK music scene.

Ben Cooper, Controller, BBC Radio 1Xtra said: “These are the most ambitious live music events that 1xtra has ever staged. We hope to connect with as many of our listeners as possible, whether they're at the gigs, listening to the radio or watching online, it's a big moment for us to celebrate what the station stands for - the very best in urban music and fresh new talent”.

This year’s fantastic line-up marks the fourth consecutive year BBC Radio 1Xtra Live has brought the biggest free urban music event to audiences across the country. Each event will simulcast live on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra and broadcast on the red button every evening from 7pm to 11pm.

Each day Tim Westwood will start the party by broadcasting his 1Xtra show live from a local college between 4pm and 7pm. The following morning from 7am to 10am 1Xtra Breakfast Show host Twin B will reflect on the previous night’s proceedings live from each city.

Twin B said: “I can’t wait to get out on the road with some of the best artists around and meet the 1Xtra listeners. Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and London here we come!”
